Default Cities flying pride flags during Olympics; Support it?

I thought Canada was making amazing progress in equal rights and the stigma of those in the LGBT community. And I always boast to non-Calgarians about how progressive Calgary has become and how we're nothing like the conservative "we're all afraid of the gays and liberals" city we were 15 years ago.

The Sun ran an article a couple days ago with Rick bell expressing outrage that Calgary was one of the last cities to join in, and apparantly, pretty reluctantly, too. Which was pretty dissapointing in itself (Hopefully Bunk can shed some light on what happened there?)

Then they ran a follow up article today, showing a poll where 85% of respondants were upset that the flag is being flown to protest Russia's treatment of the LGBT community. 85% ****ing percent.

Please tell me that's just "Sun Reader syndrome" and not even close to being a representation of our city.

I spend a lot of time dispelling the myth that we're a bunch of redneck, ultra-conservative dumbasses, so I was pretty taken aback to see that poll.

Mods, could we throw up a poll here, to see a CP representation?

We'll keep it simple to get the most accurate result;

1. Do you support the Pride flag being flown at City Hall, during the Olympics?

2. Do you not support the Pride flag being flown at City Hall, during the Olympics?
