The song has a very eerie feel to it, and I have always loved eerie sounding music. I love the minor chords. I suppose that the fact that it was their last recording only adds to that eeriness. Specifically, I love the ending and how quietly it goes out with no resolution, like that melody could be playing forever.
On the list, I tried not to use covers. My favorite Nirvana recording is without a doubt "Where Did You Sleep Last Night (In The Pines)." but I didn't choose it because it is not their song. The other two songs in the running were "Something In The Way" and "Pennyroyal Tea". |
Yeah, I love that song, too. Also, I always found the lyrics a little haunting as well, considering the timing, very tortured and dark.
