Hrmm interesting. I essentially have two different parties that regularly watch BC play telling me exact opposite things.
Regardless, it doesn't really matter I don't think.. whether he gets PP time or not he has incredible stats. It only makes sense that a coach sits more top players when they are up by 5 goals. However, the team wouldn't be up by 5 goals if it wasn't for those top players.
So in actuality it kind of seems to cancel itself out. Would JG have more points if he played more PP time? Yes.
Would he play more PP time if his team wasn't winning by so many goals and he didn't have so many points already? Yes.
So some people are saying what would happen if he played every game like it was a 1 goal game, then yes his PPG total would be higher. But in what reality or league does any team play their best player when they are up by that many goals?
Even Sid would sit if the Pens were up by 8. I think the real conclusion to the argument is that JG is head and shoulders above those around him and we won't get an accurate perception of his abilities until we can compare him to people of equal or higher skill level in a higher league in the spring (AHL and/or NHL).
