he seems to be very similar development to Mikael Granlund who went from best player not in NHL at 19 to playing half an NHL season last year and hanging in as the #6 forward at age 22.

Nino Niederreiter is 21 and spent all of last year in the AHL. He is a bit different as he is bigger and does not have to play in the top-6 to be effective. He was not as bad in the AHL having 28 goal and 50 points in 74 games.

He was traded from the AHL for RFA Clutterbuck and #70 overall.

Baertshi is the same age as Niederreiter ( a year behind in development) smaller and this being his full AHL year after getting NHL time as 19-20 year old.

Maybe he will be able to catch up to Grandlund.

There probably are a lot of teams that would be willing to give a significant amount for him

I would have been totally okay with the Flames giving up either of their 2 later 1st round picks last year for either Granlund or Niederreiter.

Baertschi is still a better NHL prospect than Poirier and/or Klimchuck. He will be in the NHL (with some team) next year and it would be shocking if either of them get 10 NHL games.
