I'm hoping Wheeler is a good comparable for development curve. Drafted in '04 and played his next year in the USHL. Then played 3 years NCAA posting these numbers:
2005-2006 University Of Minnesota-WCHA 39 9 14 23 41
2006-2007 University Of Minnesota-WCHA 44 18 20 38 42
2007-2008 University Of Minnesota-WCHA 44 15 20 35 72
Jankowski's Stats:
2012-13
Providence College H-East 34 7 11 18 10
2013-14
Providence College H-East 27 9 8 17 8
He's got 12 games to get six points to match Wheeler's pace, on a far less offensively talented team. PC has 85 GF in 27 games (3.14 GF/G), whereas Wheeler's gophers had 169 GF in 41 games (4.12 GF/G).
Wheeler put up a 20 goal, 40 point season in the NHL after leaving college. I think we'd all be thrilled if Janko ever did that in the NHL. But those worried about his stats maybe shouldn't be.
