Our concern is we want to give time to the drive but don't want to eat too much into our stay time in the cities.

We drove from SF to LA via PCH with a one night stop in Cambria; we ended up running out of daylight before we actually got there because we had walked around in Monterey, had lunch, did the 17 Mile Drive, and then kept stopping along the way for photos and such. The next day we did a tour at Hearst Castle before heading to Santa Monica/LA. Feel free to PM me with any q's
