Before someone posts the picture/video of Paul Rudd talking about Starbucks lingo, venti means 20 in Italian. There are 20 ounces in a venti drink at Starbucks. In some test stores there is even a trenta sized drink that is 30 ounces. Trenta is 30 in Italian.
Did you know that starbucks used to have only two sizes - short and tall? In other words, "tall" was once their large. Now it is their small. 'murica.

You can still order the short though - it's just not on the menu. Whenever I am forced to go there, I get a short cappuccino, which is much better than the tall (less milk, same espresso).
