Monahan is no where near Backlund in their overall games at this point, but obviously Monahan is doing amazingly well for a 19 year old.
Backlund does seem to attract an inordinate amount of both love and hate on these boards though. Don't know why.
But it would take blinders not to see that he is making real progress and has been arguably the Flames' best forward over the past month or so.
I agree with those that mentioned past injuries and the timing of those injuries. This healthy stretch, along with a lot of hard work, has him playing at a new level.
