“We have presentations from, oh, six or eight architects, etc.,’’ he explained Thursday morning. “We’ve had several different designs (submitted). This is more an accident than anything.

“It’s no secret that we’re involved in a new arena concept. We need one and are working towards that.

“What you saw was one of the concepts. We said ‘Look, we’ve got an 18,000-20,000 seat building but we want to be able to turn it into a 7,000-seat facility, as well? But not with drapes, etc. So what can you do?’ That was one of the concepts brought forward. Period.

“This piece is one concept from one architect in response to ‘Hey, how do we do this?’ This is a small internal piece of a bigger design which has not been adopted.

“It’s a neat concept. But we haven’t hired them, retained them, nothing of that nature. It sits in a basket of different choices. We don’t even know if you could practically do it ... at the cost.’’

We’ve been working for years on this,’’ said King. “So we’re closer to some of the decisions of what we want. There’s a process of what do you want to build, then there’s a process of how do you build it, when do you build and where do you build it.

“We are not ready for that. At some point we will be. Sooner than later, I think. But I don’t want a death watch ... Is it next week or next month? When?
