A little timeline on this so called project. Seems as though plans have been reset a number of times probably due to an assumption that cash would come from somewhere and clearly isn't, the purchase of the Stamps, and Stampede plans. I honestly don't think that they are any further ahead than they were in 2009.
Two sites, one site, three sites, downtown site, Stampede grounds, Stampede area, considering other locations...
Talked to the City, haven't talked to the City.
Arena concepts created, RFPs coming out, not ready to present their case.
Going on 9 years of this.

King also says they are considering a second location but he won't divulge many details. "We think this should be an urban building, we think it should be downtown, most of our fans feel the same way."

King explained the Flames aren’t quite ready to present their case for a new arena, but hope to access public support — be it infrastructure, direct funding or some other form — when the time comes.
The club has a guideline of playing in a new rink within three to five years, with construction starting within the next two to three years.

“I’m not going to affirm or deny any speculation on possible sites,” he said. “Let me say that what we’re thinking about could be one of the defining projects in our city for many decades to come, but if discussed prematurely would just be totally unhelpful to all the stakeholders involved.”
