I believe that some people believe that there's an elevation in status for veteran's especially the more recent ones from Afghanistan. You read about them in the news, you see the highway of heros. I am not so sure that every case can be mental illness. I have a thought that in a large majority of cases CC might be right. Maybe it is the age of information that makes the knowledge of this type of activity greater, but I don't remember coming home in '93 to people dressing up as soldiers. Then the in thing was to paint all soldiers with the same brush used on Clayton Matchee, et. al.
I think the renwed love affair with the nations military drags these types out more.
