I'd prefer if Bell didn't gouge their customers so much.

Just like Olympic athlete funding, this is advertising to them. They could have taken from their profits and donated the funds anonymously, but that isn't what corporations do. Their name and logo is all over this campaign.

So, the question is, would I rather Bell spend their advertising money on more flyers in the mail or more TV spots, or give to a good cause... I guess the latter is preferred. But I just don't like being manipulated. This is a company that is buying up competitors at every opportunity and then having massive waves of layoffs. Now, is that what a corporation is supposed to do? Maximize profits by any means necessary? Of course. I don't consider it ethical, but don't expect ethical behaviours from companies. But campaigns like this try to whitewash any concerns the public could have about them. "See... We're the good guys."

I hate derailing this thread, but I really think that campaigns like this should be made via the government. And the funding to projects that Bell are giving should be paid for by government. But then I've always wondered why hospitals need funding drives... where are our taxes going if not to hospitals, schools and the like?
