When the cheque comes I ask my date if she wants to split the cheque in half. That way neither one of us feels obligated to do anything, or that we owe each other anything. Then I tell her that if she sleeps with me, I will reimburse her for her portion of dinner. I will offer to cover the tip, but I hope she says I don't have to. It's more natural that way.
