If you want to improve in your profession, there is that point where you think you're doing enough versus having the maturity to know you need to do more.
I think Sven might be at that point where Ward is trying to convince him that he needs to do more, and Sven is occasionally doing it but isn't yet seeing the immediate benefits. That can cause frustration and can make you wonder why you should bother doing X and Y when it hasn't given you a reward. Having the mental strength to push through that barrier is a mark of maturity.

I'd add that sven is small so has a tougher journey in the NHL. Its not fair. It's life. Being as good as the guys next to you in the NHL isn't enough when you're undersized. You have to significantly better. Better training, more lean muscle, more lb for lb strength, more tenacity, etc.
Part of the problem might have been Sven coming up here and seeing that he had done enough to warrant a spot, but the brain trust knows that "doing enough" when you're that size is a ticket to a very short career in this league. So the brain trust is tough on him, and in his head he's being unfairly targeted.
