I am not sure how fans are taking this season. I went to the Jets game, and there were enough empty seats to be noticeable. Also the constant emails about player reserved seats being available, etc. makes me question if there are really sell our crowds.
The player reserved seats have been available all along. That's never changed, though they are pushing them a lot harder in the last year or so. And Co-op's section is an upper end. When we have low interest games this year, the Co-op and SCZ areas are the most notable because they are the only parts of the arena that are not predominantly made up of season ticket holders.

The announced attendance at all NHL rinks (not to mention MLB, NFL, NBA) is tickets distributed rather that tickets sold or turnstile count. And since the Flames distributed those seats to Co-op and Sportcheck (even if they also re-sell them through Ticketmaster), they count as part of the attendance for this purpose.
