I've read about this happening too...but I've played the crap out of my PS4 (and my dualshock 4 controllers, as I use one for PC gaming) and have yet to encounter it.
...I can only assume the people running into this problem have some sort of stone-glazed thumbs or their sweat is a mild acid of sorts.
