Wouldn't that make you (or your Dad) a bandwagon fan, at least at the beginning? Did you wear your 49er gear proudly in 2004-2005, when your beloved team went 6-26? I highly doubt it, but it doesn't matter to anyone here anyway.
Myself, like many Calgarians, grew up as Seahawks fans and watched them every Sunday thanks to American channels based out of Spokane. We have suffered through many dark periods, almost saw our team moved to Anaheim in 1990, watched them come close to winning in Super Bowl XL and then fall only to rise again last year. Many of us have even travelled to Seattle for the odd game. We are not Seahawk fans because it is easy, that's for sure! Now, our team is once again NFC champions, and February 2, 2014 may become a day as important to some of us as May 25, 1989 is to all of us. Sorry that it offends you so much.
(Now before I get outed by Pilsner 12, I have to admit I did stray a bit in the late 90's and started to following the Buccaneers, mostly because of Mike Alstott and the cool new uniforms they introduced in 1997, but I dropped them cold turkey in June 2004! )

Being a 49er fan actually started out from my Grandpa, then I became a fan every since I was young because of my Dad. So it's just been passed on.
They've had some dark times for sure and some great times, but I've never cheered for anyone else.
Im not offended at all. Just dislike towards my teams rivals (Seattle, Riders, Canucks)
Good Luck in two weeks.
