Every team is trying to make the playoffs. You don't think Edmonton is sick of sucking balls? I'd rather the Flames find vital pieces sooner than later. Hudler is one of those pieces you need on your team. He's damn good and was a UFA. My entire point is that the UFA market can speed your rebuild up if you get the right guy, who has chemistry.
Sometimes, teams can't afford to keep pieces of their team that are really good. That's when you pounce. Just like Smid. I agree with you there. That trade stopped Calgary from being worse than Edmonton.
