Normally I think the security and likelyhood of attacks are way overblown and unlikely to happen, not so much in Sochi. There are just wayy too many armed militants far too close to that city.
This isn't Vancouver where you might have a single active cell in the city, here you've got hundreds of thousands of people who despise the Russian gov't within a days drive of the spot.
