My boss's way of thinking. We get a new system for a client as well as a high end video card. High end video card arrives first so he delivers it to the client to sit there (not sure when he did this, but it was there). New system comes in. He has me configure it, install default software, etc. and then take it to the client so it can be setup on the domain and the video card installed. Of course, video card doesn't fit properly today on site. So the whole system and video card needs to be brought back to the office to do the install here or work with another video card.
Why oh why are we installing hardware in a brand new system on site? I did everything else here, keep the video card here and let's install it, the drivers, etc. and THEN bring it to the client. I just don't get his line of thinking.
Same thing Friday too. I'm loading up two new systems for a client. Office still needs to be installed, and a few other small things and he says just bring them over to the client and finish it there. He hands me a USB stick with Office on it apparently. I get to the client, remove their old computers and put in the new ones. Get everything setup and Office is not on the USB stick and it's the end of the day. So I have to go early before they open this morning to install Office. Again, if everything was configured here and ready to go, no problems, wasted times or trips and we don't end up looking stupid to clients.
