Stajan is a centre we can lose with, so as long as it's a short term deal (2 years), I'm fine with it. He's not part of the end-game, but can be part of the solution as we continue to lose hard for at least another year if not more.
I imagine an extension for him may mean Backlund is being leveraged in a separate trade to help address issues that Burke wants to deal with. As stated, Burke wants to get bigger - and having Backlund and Stajan seems moot if he's looking to actually accomplish that in the short term as neither brings any sort of physical edge to their game.
