Yeah, with the advancement in medical technology now knee injuries aren't the career enders they used to be.
My cousin had surgery for a blown out knee and the surgeon told him that the repaired knee is stronger and more stable then the healthy one. It's just getting the strength and coordination back, and the mental block of the injury, that takes time. Once he's cleared and he takes that first hit and realizes everything is fine he'll continue on. No point in worrying.
