I've always been amazed at Vancouver's ability to cycle some of the cheapest, most gutless players in the league through their lineup with surprising regularity. You get your Cooke's and Rutuu's and Bertuzzi's and as they move on the Burrows', Kesler's, Bieksa's, Lapierre's emerge, then Kassian enters the picture, etc, etc. Now you even have Tortorella trying to one up whatever his previous low was as a coach in the league.
I don't know if it's a chicken or the egg thing but there's just something about that organization that attracts/breeds players of this ilk. I'm surprised Bieksa was actually willing to take the opening draw against Westgarth, unless he knew the linesmen would jump in right away.
Fascinating stuff.
