We do, we just don't like watching a bunch of veteran players that appear to be mailing it in almost every game for a month.
A rebuild generally involves young players getting ice time, not too many, but some. At the moment, we have Monahan in the young guy category. Backlund and Brodie have been in the NHL for a while now, and Byron has also been there, but he's not a long term piece either.
It would be nice to see 5 forwards being rookies or young players.
It's one thing to play hard and lose. Nobody had a problem with that earlier in the season. When you appear to be playing like you don't give a crap and can't wait until the plane arrives to take you to your new team, then people start getting pissed. I know that they try hard and are not likely apathetic as they are professionals, but it all just sucks right now. We went a modern day record of 5 shutouts in 7 games and haven't been stellar after that. The last time that happened was before the start of the great depression. That's enough to make anyone frustrated.
That said, I am pleased that they are not making any rash trades and appear to be taking it slowly. For the long term health of the organization, we need to suck, and suck badly for a while. We don't have nearly the amount of skill we need to be an elite team, and we need 3 top 5 picks (Monahan can count) hopefully in the upcoming seasons.
