It absolutely is.
Look at the Avalanche. Ryan O'Reily, drafted as a center, easily moved to the wing. Nathan MacKinnon, drafted as a center, easily moved to the wing.
You can never have enough depth down the middle, if you have it, move those guys to the wing. I hate to sound like a broken record but it's nearly impossible to shift a wing to the middle post-draft, it's just too steep a learning curve.
I would love for the Flames to come out of this summer with Monahan and Reinhart down the middle. It puts a lot less pressure on other centers to develop and hey if Jankowski does pan out, no problem, shift someone to wing. Monahan, Reinhart, Backlund as your 1-2-3 is a superb support beam for your rebuild.
Those three centers would be the Flames load bearing wall for our rebuild, wingers are shelves.
