I'm sure one of many reasons, but the day BB decided Feaster did not have future with the Flames, there's no reason to keep him "just cause" .... and if they were conducting interviews for Feasters job while Feaster was still on the job, that's pretty tacky and makes the organization look Oilers-ish.
Feaster was let go as soon as the decision was made, because:
a) there may have been someone BB liked out there, and it was thought Buffalo was also looking at the same candidate.... so there is some urgency, and
b) one of the reasons Feaster was let go was his god awful trade deadline last year (ROR screw up, Iginla trade / debatable screw up with Boston, Bouw not maximizing value) and did not trust Feaster to handle another trade deadline
