It's kind of a shame that someone who clearly cares so much about making a difference was left to slip through the cracks of society as a result of severe mental illness. He probably felt isolated and alone and confused as a young teen after a suicide attempt and was preyed upon by religious extremists and brainwashed into thinking that this was the right thing to do. I feel for his family and even for him in a way. One has to think that if his mental health issues were addressed at a younger age, he may be still here in Calgary, making a difference in the world in a more positive way.
