Nolan should have got a charging penalty. First, because it was a charge, even if there wasn't full body contact, and second, for game management purposes - to prevent the game from continuing down its path into stupidity. The refs later started handing out misconducts for no reason but it didn't accomplish much because it was basically random.
Nolan should also have fought Sestito, because that's what you do when you're a 4th line grinder who's just taken a run at the other team's captain and leading scorer. However, you can't really blame him for NOT doing this, because it gave his team a 7 minute power play (which actually ended up being 8 minutes or so, with 48 seconds of 5 on 3).
The funny thing is that this is the kind of stuff the Canucks used to do all the time under Vigneault: turtle, turn the other cheek when their opponents tried to push them around, and then get power plays. For doing so, they were basically called slimy and wimpy and girls. But hey, they were winning a lot of games. Now under Torts, they're doing the opposite... and are 1-6 in their last 7 going into NHL-leading Anaheim tonight.
Yeah... I think you guys were better off being the cowardly wimps...
