I was always amused at Wenzel adding that in, because it shows that if he isn't cunning, he pretty much
is senile. The whole godfather bit was simply a distraction from the real complaint (being accused of breaking the law). If it is cunning rather than senility, that was probably added to give the media something to latch onto other than "Cal Wenzel allegedly broke the law". Because he probably doesn't want that written over and over again by the press, so he gave them the easy target.
As to the statement itself, I'd say section 59 utterly demolishes Wenzel's case. Everything Nenshi said is based on Wenzel's own statements. It is pretty much impossible for Wenzel to claim that Nenshi was making a false statement of fact when he was caught on video discussing ways to violate election law.
