We knew that this team was going to be in tough this year and probably a couple of years after. Welcome to the rebuild, we hope you enjoy your stay.
Are the Flames still working hard. I believe they are, except they are truly inept in the offensive zone. Scoring at the NHL level is hard. You can teach systems, but its hard to teach offensive prowess especially a team like St Louis.
When I was leaving the game tonight people were muttering about giving up and not coming to any more games and I snorted to myself. We all wanted the rebuild, this is what your going to get. The offensive help is two years away probably.
If as fans we're ready to give up and turn our backs on this team now, 4 months into this then I question the level of commitment of the fans.
Its going to be tough, its going to be worse next year.
I feel sorry for the players because I haven't seen a team that's saying I give up. I'm seeing a team with absolutely no confidence in the opponents end of the ice and it shows.
Are changes needed, sure, but they're not going to change the team for the better, they're going to for the most part make this team worse. So if you can't handle this, then maybe people should take a couple of years away starting at the deadline.
I haven't seen a team with this many offensive problems since never, I haven't seen a team not being rewarded for work ethic in a long time.
But the bottom line is and someone mentioned it before, the good teams are amping it up for the playoff push. The Flames amped it up at the start of the season, and now they can't keep up.
In the words of a famous ad, this rebuild bottom line is our dishwater soap and now we're soaking in it.
