Suggesting he's close the Thabeet is pretty insulting. His offensive game is at least 10 times better than Thabeet's, which consisted of using his athleticism and then...? Embiid can play back to the basket and more importantly facing the basket. Only Wiggins has more potential, and I'm not even sure its potential more than it is hype. So far he's been underwhelming. And while that may be harsh, blame Carmelo and Kevin Durant for being freshman megastars. They've changed the expectation level of elite recruits.
Not just me saying this either, but scouts and GMs. Several GMs say they have Embiid ranked #1. Big guys with elite skills are still the easiest way to a title.
