On the flipside of that argument, consider that Bouwmeester has consistently been one of the league leaders in TOI. He may not initiate that much contact, but simply being out there so much and having guys hit you does speak volumes as to his durability. Lots of other players in the NHL who don't play a physical game still don't manage to have that long of a streak.

I think it's also fair to give defensemen more credit for their durability all else being equal. Defensemen tend to get hit more and block more shots.
