That kind of hype is hard to quantify I guess. I just kinda figure it is just a simple matter of a more powerful system that also happens to be $100 cheaper.
Console war drama llama aside, seems like a no-brainer for most customers at this stage given the sales. Though, you certainly do muddy the waters with brand loyalty, exclusives, personal choice on controllers, wanting voice control TV, etc.
It'll be interesting to see how the PS4 Asian launch goes and when Microsoft finally opens up to their Tier 2 countries (they should have more than enough stock to do that soon). Will we see them pressured to cut the price or push a Kinectless SKU if they keep falling behind? I personally think they'll throw money around and try to buyout games for exclusivity first.
Too bad Wii U is so behind, interesting things these "console wars".
