I don't think its fair to be comparing two different industries and two very different types of businesses. Its not even fair to be comparing a huge nationwide corporation like Tim Hortons to a small Chinese food joint.

Bottom line is that in the food industry, it is very difficult to make a profit. When your running a restaurant, there are so many costs and believe me, wages need to be that low in order to turn a profit. And I agree under the assumption that raises in an overall scale does not necessarily correlate with an equal raise in service or quality.

To be perfectly honest, by you demanding a 15% raise, I probably wouldn't have given you anything. No offence, but it comes off as rude. It also doesn't look like their struggling for customers, and probably truly were late.

I think if people are polite and apologetic, then it doesn't really matter if the service is late, and I'm not going to go off demanding discounts.

Discounts should be offered, and if not, too bad. You have to remember that YOUR going to THEM for food, THEY arent coming to YOU.

Not to mention, if they go out of business, that's their problem, not yours.

Some companies just aren't able to compete on a level of service as high as others but have strengths in other areas that the service companies are weaker in.
