It is definitely about money. I'd be the first to argue that he is worth more than his $250k salary (relatively speaking). But apparently Lenarduzzi is saying that they didn't even get the chance to talk about it yet. He's still under contract for the upcoming season, according to the Whitecaps, unless there's a loophole or clause of some sort.

A club signing a player that's still under contact could (and should) get the player, agent, and club penalized in some way. If that is indeed what happened, I'd expect the MLS to go to FIFA and they'll have to be some sort of penalty and compensation.

Either way, I can't see Camilo coming back to Vancouver. He'll probably just not report and/or the club will trade away his rights. This has to sour the relationship beyond repair, even if he is a great goalscorer.
