Chicago would have preferred to keep him in NA, whether in the AHL or the NHL, but they had an agreement with Jokerit that Teuvo plays in Finland no matter what as he feels that he's physically too weak to jump to the NHL. He basically just a made a two week visit to attend preseason while the season in Finland was already going on. Based on media and fan reports, they really loved him. Scotty Bowman compared him to Larionov.
But he's still the type that might suffer a setback when he tries to get to the NHL. The good news for him is that Chicago is really good place to try to fit in for a player like him. He could never do what Barkov does in Florida for example. If he can slip into the lineup and learn from Kane, he can do well, but I don't think his success is guaranteed.
