Seguin was partying and wasn't where they wanted him in his development. Just because he seems to have turned things around in Dallas this year doesn't mean he would have done the same in Boston.

Reilly Smith already has as many points as Seguin did for them last year and is quietly second on their team in scoring. Their big piece, despite the injury and not a great start, in Eriksson still needs to be looked at as a potential 30-30 guy. Joe Morrow is a former first round pick who's putting up some impressive numbers in the AHL and even Matt Fraser is playing some NHL games.

Then with the cap space cleared by moving Peverley with Seguin they were able to sign Iginla who's fourth on the team in scoring.

The deal absolutely worked out for Dallas, or at least early on looks like it has, but I don't necessarily believe this is a deal that Boston is regretting. I mean they had a guard watching Seguin to make sure he stayed in his hotel room, and most importantly they have improved in the standings.
