One day I was talking to my Supervisor about what type of person I wanted to hire to help transition our department to a new software program. Our companies website was badly out of date, and the job described on it was nothing like what I wanted hired.

We got talking about an old coworker of mine and tried looking him up on linked in. Found out he had recently switched jobs and was driving an hour to work. We contacted him and asked him how things were going. Three weeks later we were able to hire him. So it can be a good resource in that aspect.
