Not so much of an issue now but when he was younger, this solved the issue of toe straps coming apart during games.
go to walmart, pick up some velcro, tie them into a shortened toe lace. wrap them around the toe of the blade a couple of times and then a knot. bring them then to the top of the skate and velcro. they dont come undone!
