It was nice for the Flames to reward Granlund for his solid 1st stretch in the North American professional level. I doubt he is NHL ready, but he is closer than most everyone thought he would be. I bet practicing with the Flames did him some good too, and lets him know he is on the cusp of playing his first NHL game.
There will be injuries. There will be trades. Tough to get upset at him being sent back down without playing a game since we all knew what the reasons were for having someone from the Heat called up. Just a good job by the Flames to waive a carrot in front of one of the more talented prospects who has been making a huge push since day one of the prospects' camp, and it shows the rest of the organization that if you are pushing, you will get a call-up.
