More numbers coming out for the Thunderdome Console Wars(tm)
as we progress from the initial Xbone and PS4 launches.
Looks like both consoles had massive launches in the UK but the PS4 has the initial lead. 530k vs. 364k even with the Xbone having a week headstart with an earlier release. Roughly a 2:1 sales rate for the PS4 on a per week basis (about 130k vs. 70k) - a somewhat messy metric given the different launch dates ala Major Nelson. Also no idea about how well they each kept stock available for purchase though.
It looks like multiplatform games also sold more on the PS4 than Xbones across the board - 360/PS3 lead the way in software though. Obviously, given the much larger install base.
Interesting numbers given how the UK (along with the US) were the two big Microsoft "strongholds" last generation. Still early though, next batch of new games to hit in March/Q2 and we'll see what happens. Here's to more and better games!
