There is only a few companies that manufacture snow equipment until you get into the real commercial unit, some of the lower end Ariens models are the EXACT same unit you can buy at sears/lowes/canadian tire, it is just a different color.

Gravely mostly only makes high end equipment for contractors however alot of it is big/heavy so if you are not doing it professionally I would steer away from contractor units.

My selection would depend on engine, price and warranty. With doing a few neighbours just factor in higher maintenance costs (belts, sheer bolts, sliders and fricton wheels) but even then if you buy a higher quaility unit it will still last a LONG time with normal maintenance. I would not recommend anything with an off brand engine so you can always get parts for it.

A good priced sweeper that would work is the smaller ariens unit, as for a blower yamaha makes one of the best blowers I have used (quiet, throws snow like mad)
