Hagman was getting too old for the NHL pace when he was in Calgary. His skating wasn't where it used to be so he couldn't really even play a good two-way game.

Granlund seems smarter. Hagman was more a hustle type. I don't see Markus developing tunnel vision like Niklas had. Also Granlund is more of a trigger man rather than stick-handle-through-traffic and can maybe score further away from the net.

Not necessarily a good comparison when there are a couple of better ones on the team right now in Cammalleri and Stempniak, but a career like Hagman's from a non-first-rounder is usually very positive. Fans should be happy if prospects like that have any kind of significant NHL careers.
