I think the Conservatives were just pretending to support the sub-amendment by the Bloc in order to scare the feces out of the Libs a little bit. A little bit of brinkmanship. They never intended to support a motion that contained the phrase, "as demanded by the Premier of Quebec."
The changes made this afternoon were a bit of a victory for both sides, and a bit of a loss. Maybe that's the way government should work eh? Everybody has some input. I'll be interested to see how the Conservatives' amendment plays out later this month. I watched it all live on CPAC while attempting to write my thesis....under the assumption that it would be so boring that I'd be able to concentrate on my work.
