At 22 most of your friends had a mortgage and their own businesses?
I know you are a fan of the good old days and a guy that likes to talk about how things were better when you were younger but you don't seem that old (my guess is 40-45) and from people I know in that range I would think you and your friends would have been the exception not the rule if you owned your own businesses and had mortgages.
Maybe it is because at 22 me and my friends had just finished or were finishing university but I can't think of a single friend, family member or acquaint that had a mortgage at 22 and nobody that owned any business of consequence. I don't think I or my friends are that different from most.
