Don't know how it is in other countries. But even in Finland you have to be a hockey fan to notice that the tournament exists. A couple of minutes in the sports news is all you get on the normal channels these days, it seems.
The bolded part is the same for Canada. My wife saw my watching yesterday and said "oh ya that is that tournament you watch every year, what is it again?" My in-laws have no idea what it is, co-workers didn't know what it was when me and another guy were talking about it last week.

I would think most Canadians with TV have TSN but unless you are a sports fan it is probably never watched and most wouldn't even know where it is.
