While in theory this makes sense, given that Giordano had a pretty bad year last year and hasn't shown the consistency of being an elite d-man that other guys like Doughty show.
That said this isn't fantasy hockey where you just buy low and sell high all season long squeezing every goal and assist out of your roster. You need to find players worthy of being your core and build around them. Giordano's effort and leadership has been replicated by much of this Flames team and you have to build around that even if he's no spring chicken anymore.

Either way, regarding $ven, I still stick by my observation, regardless of the obsession over if he's ever be banned before makes it hilarious or not.
Regarding Gio though, I completely agree with you. It's not a guy like Cammy or Stempniak we're talking about here. This is a guy that not only is one of our best players, but has an obvious effect on the players around him when he's on the ice. His value is one of the things you NEED in a rebuild, not one of the things you needs to convert to picks or prospects.
