I'll be the first to admit that I was wrong about Gio this season. After last season, I honestly thought the leadership on our team was absolute crap and was a big reason for our decline year after year. Boy was I wrong. Gio has been THE model player on our team. Just look at our record with him out of the lineup. It's no surprise that the team fell on hard times when he was out with his injury. Gio's leadership has been absolutely inspirational for the entire team. In fact, all the vets have shown great leadership all season long.
I wouldn't trade him even if the other team overpaid for him. The Flames will never get a fair return for what he brings to the table. Not a slight against Iggy and all his years as captain, but Gio has been the perfect captain for this team. I'm happy as hell he is on our side.
