Just a note regarding the GM search, I was lucky enough to be invited to the Flames "Top Shelf Experience" for the Blues game on Monday. Part of the experience is a member of Flames management team greeting the guests before the game.
Ken King came over to say hi and answer any fan questions, and of course, someone asked how the GM search is going. I'm paraphrasing what he said, but he mentioned the following points:
-search is "going well"
-Jay Feaster was a good man, but his body of work as Flames GM was not satisfactory
-Brian Burke has a couple candidates on his mind, won't divulge names
-goal is to hire a GM before end of this season, prefer to get it done much sooner than that
Other unrelated tidbits from Ken King:
-very impressed with Byron's play
-Giordano's been "awesome"
-love team's hard working mentality
That was all the time he had. No chance to get my hand crushed by Kinger
