The design was ingenious though.
During the vietnam war American soldiers would pick the AK up and use it instead of the M-16 due to how bad the first production run of the M-16 was.

The accuracy was too much to over look for me. It is just piss poor, IMO. The C-7 is actually a pretty solid weapon (or the latest instalment).
I prefer the FN above them all, while you needed to keep it clean (not a bad thing for a soldier to do) you could really reach out and touch someone.
